A small ore mine discovered on the grounds of Camp Koh, believed to have first been in use by the native populace and then expanded by settlers to use for various metals that were extracted for use in making tools and supplies.
Considerable effort was made to shore up the walls of the mine after the Camp was founded, thanks to financing from the board and experts from KMK Enterprises Minerals division. A deeper portion of the mine was discovered but closed off after engineers determined it was too unstable to preserve.
This area affords campers a one-of-a-kind experience to participate in geological studies and complete the Mining & Geology Merit Badge!
NOTICE: After a partial cave-in a few years ago, the mine has remained closed and off-limits to visitors for safety reasons. Work is being done to see if it can be reopened.
